Really depends on a lot of factors. Are you long legged? do you have long or short arms? It really has a lot to do with the distance from your hand to the floor while standing straight and not necessarily your height. I am 6’4 and play with about .5 inch extensions
I’m 6’3 and play with a full extra inch. It all depends on your body type and setup on top of just height.
Ty!
The cut off seems to vary depending on where you go. I’m 6’4” and also had irons extended 0.5.”
I’d say you’d probably be fine with standard clubs at your height, but there’s a measure of personal preference/comfort that should be included.
Hit ‘em straight
Yes there is more variables than just height that go into club length.
I’m 5’11 and my fitter was debating between half inch longer or standard. He had me hit the half inch longer ones a few times during the fitting but I had more instances of chunking it so he kept me at standard.
That said, given our similar heights if they fit you into them based on your swing it doesn’t seem too far off.
I’m 6’2 and use standard cause I was chunking the longer ones too
This is all helpful - thank you! Glad to hear the extra length is reasonable.
I’m 6’1 and play with .5 inch extra. There are so many factors outside of height like arm/torso/leg length at play when fitting for clubs but at the end of the day, being comfortable with your clubs is all that matters like many others have said.
Anyone can play with standard clubs and anyone can play with extended clubs — just comes down to preference

I’m 6 and use standard length
Just make sure the fitter will revisit with you and adjust length/lie if it doesn't work out. Most will, some will for free. Turf grass plays differently than artificial turf and every swing is unique. I'm 5"11' and played standard for my entire adult life until I went for a fitting. Fitter took measurements but also talked with me about my common mis-hits and challenges on the course in addition to the shot tracker analysis. I was surprised when he suggested .25" short at my height but I've gained much more accuracy and consistency in distance with my irons.
Are you trying to break 100 or break 75? If it’s the former, iron length couldn’t matter less.
I shoot in the upper 80s but have only played about a year. Trying to dial in irons to grow with me as I play a lot more
Depends on arm length too and not just height. Length from wrist to ground.
