Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Congratulations! Can you please let me know how did you apply for the same and what were the interviews like?
For everyone who is asking how I got these opportunities, for the UK opportunity I was directly reached by the recruiter on linkedIn (Impressive profile increases your visibility) and for the Germany I directly applied on Glassdoor/Linkedin (not sure which one exaclty).
I would consider a lot more than figures. What about the profile/company - which one excites you? Better long term prospects? Btw in case it's London, 55k won't cut it if you have a partner. A decent studio alone costs 1800-2000 GBP. Many locations in Germany are more than affordable at 70k. Good luck 👍
Hey Hi,
I saw your post, I am currently in UK and can guide you.
I have 3 years of total experience and I moved to Coventry UK this month at 48000 GBP salary.
See the truth is 40k + is a good salary outside London, and its not a starter salary. I did my. Masters from one of the top universities of UK and the starter salary or graduate salary in UK is 30k so with 3-4 years of experience if you are single and staying outside London 40k plus is a very good salary.
People here are just being negative, as they are just googling things and haven't seen the reality.
And with 55K GBP pre tax making around 3500 per month take 1200 GBP max for a entire 1 or 2 bhk OUTSIDE London, say Coventry, and add 400 gbp for food and groceries max, 200 gbp for travel, 200 say for misx expense, still you have spent just 2000 GBP per month and saving 1500 GBP, ofcourse these figures i have taken are max values.
Both salaries seem very low especially UK
I also feel same.

I believe UK would be much better than Germany for future opportunities and for quality of living
I would say UK is better bcz of the quality of living but Germany is also good in terms of salary! I think this is the standard salary people are getting in UK- EU right now cz i lived there and i know this is truth!
Uk salary is good if it is not London. If London and you are single, it is still OK.
Not sure about Germany.
UK also there is no inflation hence no hikes happens frequently.
But it is a good place where you can have a luxuries lifestyle.
Same question I tried applying international job posts and never get call back due to location pls need to know the process.
Please share your application process brother. Will be helpful for all java dev.
