Is it a 16% over your current salary? If so, it’s probably closer to a 3-4% raise, if any, and don’t forget bonus. Depending on the new company/group, your future raise adjustments will likely be much less than in PA. If you are leaving for the money, you are leaving too early in your career. The big bumps with significant upside come after a year or two as a Manager in PA. This is not true 100% of the time, but in general this will be true. Other considerations - PTO days, ability to work remotely or take a random day off when you feel like it. My experience is that industry jobs will generally be there at all levels as you progress; however, the opportunities do slow down after Sr Mgr. Good luck with your decision.
It never hurts to apply and interview throughout your career. I interviewed probably once a year while I was in PA. There were several positions that sounded perfect in the description but when I went to interview, they were not what I wanted. It helped me re-commit to PA. I left EY as a SM after nearly 10 years there and ended up with my dream job in industry. So, my suggestion is to pursue your options all along so that when the right comes along, you know it!
Very insightful Partner1.
What does ‘found’ mean - have you applied or interviewed yet? If not, yes it makes sense to do that now while the job is available. Don’t wait to be promoted to apply and start the process
@M1 I found it online and am contemplating applying. Not sure if something like that is worth leaving for though. Any insight?
I agree with EY1, apply and interview. You won’t know if it’s right or wrong until you get some firsthand information. If it isn’t right, you’re in a good place as you’ll be promoted soon
