I’m at the end of my rope at my current gig, currently being given breadcrumbs of one project here and there and I feel like I’m stuck waiting around but have been told I cannot bill for anything beyond hours worked. At this point I wish they’d just cut me instead of stringing me along, so far I’ve billed 7 hours for the entire month of March after being told how busy it’s going to get…eventually. The story keeps changing. ☹️

Any advice to get out of this situation without burning any bridges?

I keep hearing that Booth’s MBA program is rigorous (maybe the most rigorous out of M7). That said, how much more work are students expected to do compared to HBS, Wharton, Kellogg, etc.? I don’t know if this is an outdated opinion, considering a lot of MBAs are very demanding. Booth is personally my top choice for having a flexible curriculum & 2-3 days of classes. But I really want to know what to expect around the “rigorous” label. Does it mean I’ll be buried in coursework the other 2-3 days?

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

If you freelance at one spot for a while but switch to a new location for a higher rate even though the original wanted to extend you, is that considered burning a bridge? Or can you go back later?
