I'm feeling really unmotivated and less confident recently both in and outside of work. Is there anything I can do to get myself out of this rut? Unsure if it's just mild burnout. Just feels like the days are passing by and I have no urge to do anything.

Within my first year of Consulting, really struggling with the hours amongst other things. Spoken to a couple of people internally and the advice is to get on to projects with bigger budgets and therefore bigger teams/more support. I want to wait until I hit the one year mark before making a decision on whether Consulting is for me or not. Curious to hear from other experienced hires..how is/was your first year?

Why do recruiters never tell you which agency they want to talk to you about until they get you on the phone? Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.
