I’m finding it hard to get my foot in the door for government jobs without prior public service experience. It seems like every position I'm interested in requires some level of government background, which I don't have. Has anyone else been in this situation and found a successful way to break through? What strategies did you use to overcome this barrier? Did volunteering, additional training, or networking play a part in getting that first opportunity? I’d really appreciate hearing about any experiences or advice you might have!

I am an associate at an AM200 firm and was (IMO) very clear prior to accepting this role that I value work-life balance and wanted to try to keep work at night on the weekends to a minimal, but since February, it seems like it’s always something that requires my time as needed disregarding “business hours” or my personal schedule. Thoughts on whether to bring this up or continue to be a team player until I burn out and pay off my student loans?

I am considering an offer for an AE role (UK-LDN) where the base is £42k & OTE is £70k. The Regional GM has verbally promised to move it up to £50k base if I perform well during the probationary period, but I can’t have it in writing on the contract. I’ve tried to counter offer but they said I’m currently maxing the salary band (L4). This role is exciting as I’d be the first UK employee, doing the full sales cycle & more but I had the same base and ote as an SDR. Is it too low? Do I take it?
