Selecting a bike is based on your size, comfort on the bike and where you will be riding. As other said, test ride many different bikes. I rode only Honda for 40 years and recently went to my first Harley. That decision was based on many factors in comparing the Ultra Limited to the Gold Wing. One piece of advice is to get as big a bike as you feel comfortable with. If you buy too small of a bike, you’ll be looking for your next bike very quickly.
Find somewhere to test ride. Street bob would be a good first bike, just make sure you're comfortable with the riding position before you pull the trigger. It wont take a long test ride for you to know if you'll like it
If you can, test at least 2-3 different bikes so you can get a good sense about the position and riding style that you're more comfortable with. A lot of people make the mistake of ride-testing one bike but that won't give you a baseline as yo what may fit you best.
