I'm in PDM and am working with a client where they only extend SOW for 8-12 weeks and they don't make a decision till the last 2 weeks. The client is sort of unorganized and keeps moving me to different projects . As of now , I'm the only resource working at the client . I've had a few Deloitte managers message me since my staff shows me as available within 8 weeks. Can I just accept a role at a new client and say no to my current project saying I don't want to work at this client

The reason is I'm looking for something a bit more steady . I've had my SOW/CR renew 4 times since July last year . As of now they said , they can't confirm anything till mid April. Even then it's probably a short renewal till July .

Yeah please go ahead . When you are in PDM commit only for ‘sold’ projects. If you can get something which is long term , that would be better. In PDM , employment is directly tied with the project and most of the times there is no bench time .It’s always risky to hang on something which is still evolving .

PDM doesn’t have that flexibility like Core.My response is based on the fact that , some other project is willing to offer you a better position. So utilize your network, grab the position , secure it and then work with current team for a smooth exit.

Recently joined the firm as a project delivery specialist. During recruiting, the team harped on how great my background was and how much a good fit I would be for the firm/project...

Well, I was on an onboarding call and they were talking about staffing and projects. The presenter said to reach out to them if you don’t think your project is a good fit. In his words “you were hired into the firm, not a specific project. We see you here long term... With the exception of PDM model” 😅
