No, you are doing the work expected of your job. But if you are looking to move to next level, you’ll probably need to do more than the minimum
I’m comfortable in my position. There’s no reason to progress up. I have a fantastic WLB very little interaction with upper management and I don’t have to make decisions. I am paid pretty well too
I get what you mean, I think. Are you saying you’re bored in the day to day but are comfortable in the position you’re in? I’d try to find fulfillment outside of work in that case. If the boredness starts making you unhappy then I’d look for another job.
Yeah in that case I’d put more time into activities outside of work. Not everyone has to find fulfillment from their job and that’s ok. Just go in, do well in your role to get by and collect your paycheck.
It means you are no longer challenged by the work. You can ask for new responsibilities or start other hobbies outside of work to get your juices flowing
This would have sounded crazy to five-years-ago me, but I am salaried, work 40 hours a week, and when the clock strikes 5pm, I'm out. I also love the people I work with. BUT I find my job almost painfully boring, and my company has as much as told me that I've hit the ceiling for growth opportunities. I'm very easily bored and know that I will need to continue to job-hop in order to stay mentally stimulated. That's something I do plan on doing eventually.
BUT looking for a new job is a lot of work, and right now I'm content because my job *doesn't emotionally exhaust me*, so I have plenty of time and energy after work to pursue my bajillion hobbies (I write, woodburn, paint, etc. - creative stuff that I have always been passionate about, but too depleted to pursue in my past jobs). I know that I could be sacrificing that if I move right now, and I don't think there's anything wrong with making that conscious decision.
If you’re bored and unhappy but don’t want to climb then it’s time to start looking for a different role. One that’s different but not more challenging.
Nothing is wrong with you, no one wants to go to a job that bores them. That said though, you only have three options. 1) stay and find ways to stave off the boredom 2) take on new responsibilities to start climbing to less boring positions 3) look for new but different jobs that won’t be so boring
I would say enjoy your WLB and ramp up the rest of your life to be super engaging!
