Globant India Pvt. Ltd. Hi Globers ! I have an offer from Globant for the role of a BA. While discussing the role with HR pre and post the interviews & offer, I had specifically ask the HR to tag me to Ahmedabad location as that's my hometown and I do not wish to relocate. But she has rolled out the offer for Pune location ane verbally ( isn't giving me in writing ) assured me that the location will be flexible. May I know from the fellow Globers if we have location flexibility or WFH option available? Globant India Pv
Is HARMAN really recruiting for permanent remote roles? Would they ask us to come to office after sometime? I am a bachelor woman supporting my sickly parents and can't move them out of city. And my city don't have harman office. HR did mention permanent remote, still want to confirm as I've heard many cases people were called back across different product based companies. If you aim for some place like Long Beach, you’d be in the middle of OC and LA and the commute would be more manageable in both directions.
OC is going to be a hike to get to the LA agencies. The traffic will be horrendous. I did the opposite commute for a month and it nearly killed me.
You might get lucky to freelance for agencies in OC. There are a number of them there.
As for the freelance climate, it’s not great right now. Unless you already have contacts, you’re going to be at a disadvantage. I’d recommend looking for staff, then build up your contacts.
Thanks all! Super helpful. Yeah feeling like we should stay closer in to that LAX area at least for the first year until i figure out what freelance work will be looking like. We’re just trying to see how big of a vicinity we have so we can get a little more space than we have in manhattan. I’m going to be mostly doing remote work but just want the occasional option to drive in to an office if required.
LA freelancer here 👋 been booked locally all year. They like us to be close. I’ve barely gone in but it does help book the gig when I tell them I’m local to west side. I also concur the market is super tough I know a lot of of local talent that’s been struggling. Get here and be more central and make a network first if you don’t have one.
Just trying to figure out where we can lay down roots for our family and start my freelance/independent journey
No
The 405 is fine going south in the am and north in the pm. The reverse direction sucks. .
Even driving across LA in rush hour both ways makes me want to die.
I would not live in OC with the plan of commuting to LA. I live in Long Beach and used to commute to LA and don’t even want to do that anymore.
