I’ve been freelancing since May. Big lesson was knowing what billing model to adapt based on each contract.
Obvious things but important to keep in mind:
-make sure you know your numbers to keep a positive cash flow.
- If you’re giving away your time to meet a new lead, close that sale from the first try so you don’t waste your precious time. And only meet with clients you know you’ll want to work for. Otherwise, tell them to send you a brief instead.
- it’s a good idea to invest in an attorney if you can afford it. It’ll save you $$$$.
- efficiency is the game.
- always be 2 steps ahead when it comes to your sales funnel. Don’t put all eggs in one basket.
- take breaks :)
