Anyone from Boston Consulting Group Boston Consulting Group (BCG) working in non-consulting - Technology/Engineering/Global Services?
How's the work life balance? Glassdoor reviews are full of "long working hours" and hence wanted to know if it's the same with non-consulting folks as well? How far is it true across the organisation?
Please help me shed some light to decide.
Thanks.

It was a learning opportunity for you to be assertive with the client who preferred to work with your supervisor. The best thing would have been to reassured the client that you will take good care of them and proceed to work with them. Secondly, working in a small team required more work and can be overwhelmed. If you quit you will not be eligible for unemployment. I hope you find a good job soon.

(Contd) and help me with handling more of the clients and workload. Im still a new employee who is not fully trained on how to deal with these things that well!!!
She wants to pass the buck and duck and dodge whenever she does not feel like dealing with a certain client & I think that is so WRONG AND UNETHICAL!!
Yesterday, she told me she wanted me "to take" a client who reached out to us & said "she has called my line several times, and as you know she is a repeat repeat client- Can you reach out to her- to verify if she has a voucher or looking for affordable? Her numbers are not adding up on the registration form . Tell her I am working with another client- and you will be assisting her. If she has something out of the norm, or something we have never discussed, please let me know, and we can schedule a call to discuss." I reached out to the client & she said she would prefer to speak to my Supervisor because she has been the one who has been handling her case for the last year and a half & she doesn't want to keep starting over.
My Director, Supervisor, and I had a meeting today & my Supervisor mentioned all of this & she was complaining about how she worked with this client for the first year and a half when she first started working here & she has been emailing, calling, & texting her asking if she is mad at her. She said she told the client that she is working on another project & that I will be assisting her. My Director was just cosigning with EVERYTHING my supervisor was saying as if she's right about everything she's doing!! Like wtf?! Where is the support?!
My supervisor is constantly making up excuses to get out of events & meetings & feels like she can pick & choose whatever she wants to show up to and participate in. It is only 3 of us altogether so I dont know how she thinks that is fair or reasonable at all. She has made up unbelievable stories like locking her keys in her trunk prior to a 4 hour meeting my director and I were scheduled to present at. She never showed up the entire 4 hours we were in the meeting. I had to help present & i felf so i prepared.
This is starting to become a normal pattern with her in regard to work and events.
Another example was when we sponsored an event that I thought she was going to be attending & assisting with. But she found a way to get out of that too. I already was not feeling that great when she texted me & said "im just checking to see if you will be there to help the Director tonight. I completely forgot i took PTO to be w/my family that came in on Friday. They leave tonight. The Director said she will be okay as long as you are there." Um wtf?! I just feel like she is just taking advantage of me at this point. She made it sound as though she was going to be at the event at firsto & NEVER mentioned anything about taking PTO & having family in town. I told her I wasnt feeling well & that I may need to leave early because im not feeling that well.
Ive applied to countless jobs within the past 6 months & am still waiting to hear back from some. However, in the meantime, if I have a note from an LCPC or file for unemployment due to a hostile work environment that is negatively affecting my health, is there a chance I can receive unemployment? This place has become so toxic that it is literally affecting my health so bad. I already suffer from an anxiety disorder. These employers and managers just abuse their employees & expect for them to stick around as if this stuff isn't going to affect employees. I can't take it anymore. My goal is to be out of this place by early November!!

This is a you problem. She is your supervisor and she cannot read your mind. You do need to set boundaries and let her know very clearly what types of situations you are comfortable taking on and where you will need her support. This is called upward management.
