Off topic: I am stuck in a service based company for last 4 years in a shitty project. The work I do can be done by a 12th grader. Now i want to move out by learning something new & changing my domain. But the thing is I am not able to study because I am stuck in a comfort zone and learning new thing gives me bad anxiety. It feels like I will never learn & be forever stuck here. Pls help on how to come out of comfort zone, learn things and apply for the job. Tata Consultancy Infosys Wipro

Your primary purpose appears to save tax. If you are still physically working from California under both options, you will have to pay state tax in California. Only when you move to TX, you will save on state income tax.
I think even Washington state has no tax. Move from Cal to Wa would be easier than from cal to tx
Don’t you also need to file h1b amendment?
You can. But I think you want to move to Texas to avoid state taxes. If so you would not be able to as you need to report where you are currently residing regardless of where your home office is. So if you stay in CA you cannot claim no state income tax nor would Deloitte allow that
I wish I can switch states and get some tax advantages for a year or so. I got too much tied into my current residency to do that. For those single renters in expensive cities it’s not worth sticking it out in the short term.
