I’m on the leadership team at my company. We grade all our staff on job effectiveness, company values and other factors. There’s a huge disconnect between my and others’ perception of my number 2. They think I have blind spots regarding her. I think they’re incredibly unfair. Examples they cite seem so immaterial and the feedback on her seems rude and not constructive relative to feedback on others. Never experienced such a disconnect. Feels like I’m fighting a war I can’t win. Any advice?

Help her then. Its not a war. Even if it is You have to win the hearts. Nicely give her a feedback and let her know how she can adjust her tone.

Overall it seems for whatever reason they don’t like her in general it can be she is an underperformer, it can be jelousy, racism many things who knows. Whatever you do, dont get involve in some drama.

Whoever called her stupid, deprived you of the opportunity to receive feedback to help the employee improve. And it’s very disrespectful. Of course you aren’t going to take feedback of that kind seriously because it isn’t feedback at all. I would take the other comments that seem small, as an opportunity to help your number two improve. How she is perceived by other leaders in your company is important, so take their feedback and help her grow even more. I love that you go to bat for her, that makes you a great leader!!

Give examples. Nothing worse than getting feedback with no examples and not just from the past but ongoing in the future if they come up again with this person.

In my opinion, Completely unfair and destroys any confidence or solid feeling of self worth if there are no examples.

Need examples and gender of those citing immaterial feedback

I see the feedback now. First, it blows me away that someone called her stupid- incredibly childish. I asked about gender because women communicate and prioritize information differently and I’ve often wondered if women get pushed aside subconsciously because how they communicate doesn’t match male speak.

I am seeing too many post about awards like rising star, Kudos, etc. People keep telling there managers recommended them for these awards.
My manager doesn't interact much with us. I consider myself as some one who has worked hard for project and other intiatives. Should I ask my manager to consider me and if yes how should I initiate it.

I am so tired of being treated like an assistant and I’m at a loss on how to correct it. My coworkers are generally nice, but while I watch white (usually male) associates at my level or even more junior get substantive work, I’m still receiving administrative tasks as a mid-level. Let’s talk about wrongful termination. The other day I was fired in the middle of the day without any warning. My colleagues called me because they were confused on why the Talent Manager dismissed me from the chat. I didn’t know what they were referring to. So I called my PM to ask what was happening, and she said that she just got off the phone with the TM and said they were terminating my contract on the spot due to me speaking up about micromanaging. I’m in this business to cure my inferiority complex. Making lots of money, working with fortune 500 clients and walking the streets of NYC with a suit, tie and briefcase makes me feel important and worthy.

I often wish I could be like my law school friends who either moved to small towns or have public sector or non profit jobs, wear sweaters and jeans to work and make far less than me, but are happy with their lives, feel a sense of meaning with their work and don’t need external validation.

My company cut staff to 4 days/wk to save funds. I was getting requests from coworkers for docs needed urgently on our day off (fridays). I would oblige them. Hey all - 2 years in consulting so far as a fairly "type b" personality - relaxed, uncompetitive, enjoy socializing with my colleagues. To be clear, this is not the same as being lazy or irresponsible - I am diligent and do my work well.

I have completed 8 months in the current org and my Notice Period is 90 Days.
If I resign and serve notice , my tenure at current workplace will be 11 months.
Should I work for one more month and resign ?
Or should I resign right away and serve 2 months notice period and buy out one months notice ?
