I'm part of my company's D&I committee. We recently launched it & have limited action range One thing we have is access to company-wide post on our Intranet. Long story short, an employee reached out to us to let us know he's native American, recognized by his tribe. I would love to do an employee highlight on him in the upcoming weeks. Especially since November is Native American Heritage month. It would be publish near Thanksgiving. Is that too sensitive to talk about. Any suggestions??

I'm non native so I will derfer to those in the community. However, I think the key is all in the wording and the delivery of the spotlight.

I think it's great to spotlight diverse employees if they are willing to be in the spot light. And I don't find anything wrong with spotlighting native Americans in November.

My first action would be to ask them their thoughts. After that, I'd give them so frame work on the execution of the spot light (where, how, ect) and ask them what kind of questions/topics they'd be comfortable speaking on.

I interviewed for KPMG on 11/15 for a Senior role and the HR emailed me on 11/16 that everyone liked me but they think I should be hired as an Experienced Associate. I had a call with the HR on 11/17 wherein we discussed about my salary expectations and the HR said he will get back in a day. It’s been more than 10 days and multiple follow ups but still no response. I don’t think I was rude while talking to the HR, I just told my current salary and asked for min. that no. Did i miss the chance ?

Working on introducing ERGs at a company- how did your company decide the first ERGs to start with? How did they communicate the start of ERGs and roll out the structure?

I used a tool at my last company that worked tremendously well in helping me resolve conflict with a co-worker and I would love to bring it into my new company - its an Ombuds platform.

In honor of National Voter Registration Day, The New Yorker released the transcript of a previously unpublished interview with James Baldwin, who gave a first-hand account of "Freedom Day 1963," a Black voter-registration drive in Selma, Alabama. Baldwin's descriptions from that day are so vivid and detailed that you can feel the fear and anger of the event. If you have a couple of minutes, I highly recommend you read it.
