I'm dealing with some toxic masculinity at work from someone that works on my team. Does anyone have advice on constructive ways to address this type of behavior?

First, I’m sorry that you’re dealing with this. I can appreciate how difficult this must be.

I find that dealing with toxic co-workers can be difficult. Some of them I speak to directly about their behaviour; others I choose to distance myself from, especially when there is a power imbalance in our working relationship and they are likely to respond in ways that can hurt my career.

I’m current a second year associate at big 4 and so is my girlfriend (but diff firm). If she were to leave and accept a job at my client in an internal controls position, would I need to disclose this to my team? It sounds like ethically yes but on paper in the guidelines, it says as long as we’re not married we aren’t obligated to. Don’t live with her or have kids or anything. Just a long time girlfriend, and we’re both at the staff level

When I ask my manager for advice about how to do something, he usually just tells me I'll "figure it out yourself." But when it comes down to it, he doesn't help me at all by doing that—he just makes me feel like an idiot. And then when I do figure it out myself and bring the answer back to him, he won't even look at it! He'll just say something like "Oh yeah, thank you," and give me another assignment.

The company has this rule where we have to check customers' IDs if they are buying anything age-restricted (alcohol, etc.) I hate it because customers get super mad at me and one of them told me "if you think I'm too young then you're stupid and don't deserve to have a job." It's not my policy guys, it's the company. I tell people I would get fired if I didn't do this and they never believe me

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

I told him they aren’t necessary but he insisted. What do I do? It makes me feel less important/unappreciated. I rather not even schedule to meet. Advice?

Definitely took the wrong job. I was offered a seriously competitive salary and great benefits to work at a well funded startup, which is great! Turns out the salary and benefits were meant as lowkey bribes to insure I worked at the company without actually doing any work. I'm in desperate need of tips to get genuine buy in from our predominantly white, male senior leadership to create a more inclusive environment. General question: Is there any room in corporate America for real, actionable DE&I discussions and initiatives?
