Additional Posts in EY Pathways to Parenthood
I just got an offer from EY in London but considering based on what the maternity policy is which doesn’t seem to be spelt out in contract or benefits pdf. Does anyone know a) if there’s a minimum employment period to qualify and b) what the enhanced maternity pay is. I’ve read both 16 weeks and 18 weeks.

1. Which plan has a lifetime max? I haven’t seen that before. My HDHP had an out of pocket max per year (not lifetime), so I’m happy to walk through my experience. My deductible was $2500. I had to pay 100% out of pocket until my deductible was hit. After I hit my deductible, everything was covered at 80%, so I only paid 20% of medical care until I spent $2,500 more (my out of pocket max is $5k). So let’s say my procedure costed $10k. I’d pay the first $2500 and then the coinsurance kicks in, so I only have to pay 20% of the remaining $7500 (which is $1500). So in total I’ve paid 2500 + 1500 =4,000. If yours is structured similar to mine, you’d hit your out of pocket max when you’ve hit $15k in medical expenses ($2500 from deductible + 0.2*$12,500).
2. Ey benefit kicks in for anything that insurance covers, so the 80% of everything beyond your deductible but before your out of pocket max, or the 100% of everything after out of pocket max.
3. I contacted Optum via UHC in early July 2025. I did 2 rounds of egg freezing in September and October. I didn’t need reimbursement because everything was handled thru insurance.
4. I paid ~$3k for the first round (mostly for meds) and exactly $0 for the second round. I had hit my deductible earlier this year before the process.
5. What do you mean for monthly maintenance?
You’d have to crunch the numbers on the deductibles and premiums, I’m not too sure but I think they’re pretty similar all in. For me, having access to contribute to an HSA was very important for a retirement vehicle.
Can confirm the same experience for #1. No lifetime max on my HDHP on Anthem Blue Cross. $2,500 deductible per person or max of $5,000 family deductible. Think my total OOP is $10k.
Regarding the monthly maintenance, maybe you mean the annual fee for egg freezing? If so, every provider is different. Standard range is $500-$1,000/year. My bougie Los Angeles doctor stores ours at his onsite facility for like $1,500, but that’s unusual.
It’s very hard to give you a “clean cost” estimate.
Per egg retrieval - call it $10k (very directional but a planning value).
You won’t know how many retrievals you will need.
Then, once you actually use your eggs to create embryos, you will have a whole other host of costs; the retrieval is the most expensive part of IVF but just want to be clear that doing egg freezing is just one part of a bigger process. Feel free to DM me.
