Communicate to your producer, not to the talent directly.
If it wasn’t planned for in the pre production meeting, and you have spur of the moment suggestions or changes on set, communicate those to your producer and not the talent directly, and don’t be surprised if there is a cost.
Do not pitch your own screenplay or “idea for a project” to the celeb talent.
Aside from some of the other replies: leave some room for improv. Make sure you get what's scripted, but also encourage the director to let the talent try a few things. Some comedians even have their own writing staff prepare some stuff or edit scripts in advance. Do not rely on it, though. Be prepared and get the approved versions first.
Visual Storyteller
This is the answer. You need the scripted stuff so the important verbatim lines (product name, rtb, etc) are read and so you have the script the client approved to fall back on.
But a comedian is different than a typical celebrity in that you’re not hiring them for solely for their fame and brand recognition or even their acting talent. A professional comedian is funnier than an advertising creative and their adlibs and improv will very likely be funnier than the jokes that are written for the script

Tell Kevin his Q score is plummeting with overexposure. And tell him to pull that awful “heist” movie on Netflix.
Not Kevin
Dane Cook?
That was the joke
If the actor's hopefully a decent human being, the most nuance i had to navigate around is they have a more firm timeline on how many hours they're working for and in some cases it's navigating around their entourage giving attitude.
Just direct them like any other actor otherwise.
Prepare for the worst.
It really shouldn’t be too different than any other shoot in that all of your notes for talent should be funnelled through the director anyways. Any other watchouts beyond that will probably be shared with you by production beforehand.

If they ask you to hang out, don’t.
If they wave a baggie of coke and ask you to hang out, definitely don’t.

Carrot Top? Gallagher? Earthquake? Who is it? I have to know?
None of those lol I’ll give you a hint he’s kinda a chill guy meme
Just be professional and focus on the project. Don't ask him/her anything personal or about past gigs. I worked on a project featuring Donnie Wahlberg and some crew members kept asking him about his NKOTB days. He didn't appreciate it and those people were let go for annoying Donnie.
So they said please go girl (or guy)?
