Need a break, a good shake up, and get back into it. Once you get back a little baseline, dive into something, know all you can, and lead it. Prove to yourself you’re not stupid.
We’ve all been there. Occasional breaks, and building off your failures into successes will get you there.
People only remember the last thing that happened. So get back in there and show up sparkling.
Also, no idea how old you are, but running yourself ragged all weekend doesn’t help either. Make your weekends last as long as it can, take a few to get rest, self care, lay off the booze (even though it tastes so damn good afternoon a week of hell), but feeling fresh on a Monday goes a lonnnnnnnng way for the rest of the week.
I like the show up sparkling part, Genius!
It sounds like you need a break from work. Can you take any mental health days or book yourself a vacation to relax and reset?
I don't need anymore vacation requests, I'm well rested, the issue is, I'm horrible with in person job interviews. The tell me about yourself portion gets me everytime. I have a better chance working it out with Macy's.
Don’t be hard on yourself, I’ve been called out by CMO infront of like 15 people(including account directors and brand managers) in a presentation. I simply apologized and the next presentation I adjusted how I presented my data and asked for some second thoughts when I finished populating my slides. It didn’t take long before I was able to casually chit chat with the CMO as if nothing happened with future presentations after that.
Another tip I have for you is make sure you are in control of your narrative and don’t overcomplicate your content. Lots of people fall into the trap of wanting to sounds smarter than they are and end up tripping on their own BS, so it’s best to keep your content focused and straight to the point. If follow ups come up, simply say “that is a great point, we do have a limited amount of time to present our content so if you’d like I can send more information offline going more in depth over email” and if you’re able to you can schedule a separate call should they need deeper insight.
I will echo other comments in the thread though: if you can book some time off to take the edge off do it
Self care is the best thing you can do. That looks different for everyone but for me it might be doing something I really enjoy, getting out and taking a nice long walk in the sunshine, or eating a really nice homecooked meal. Make sure that you are taking care of you during this time.
Wonderful advice!! Any advice for a bad back? I have a mild discomfort with my upper back, right on my shoulders. I am unemployed right now. I can't ask my husband because he would ask me, what did you do all day to get a back rub? I would say.. research in AI.. Communicate online with AI.. no one seems to want to help me out.. I guess I'll go work for AI.......
Asks Copilot - What should I make for dinner?
I told my boss I was burning out and he responded “that means you don’t like your job” ☠️ I was shocked to say the least
Said boss isn’t wrong burnout is incredibly difficult to come back from lol
This sounds so realistic! A day in the life! You work. Was it worth it? Hungry every hour! Every hour you need to be making money! Set aside 20 to 30 minutes. What does the job entail? A background in criminalology? A background in stocking or restocking shelves? Hanging up flyers? Doing little to nothing is pointless. I don't get your point. Can you elaborate on what you just said?
