I'm so excited that we are getting EPIC next year! Does anyone have experience transitioning to it from a bunch of other small systems? Hoping it will be streamlined.

That’s exciting! I haven’t had experience transitioning to it but I have experience building and customizing within it. It has its issues as all EHRs do but I think there is a reason it is so widely used.

Just getting a hold of EPIC, very user friendly. Learned the most of within 2 days. I work in Pulmonary

Two days is not bad! Sounds like a doable learning curve ☺️

I've been working with epic for the past 2 years...worked with Cerner applications and epic is super user friendly

like

Awesome!

I have worked in so many different dos based systems as well as meditech & cerner and I love EPIC! It very much depends on if your facility pays for certain options within the system though and how well the IT department knows epic!

This is good to know, I'm not sure what bells and whistles they opted into or out of, but it is supposed to be our main EHR when we transition and get rid of a lot of separate programs so I am feeling optimistic

I transitioned to epic as a registration manager. Very long and detailed process but also extremely worth. Wishing you the best!

Lots and lots of training probably for weeks lol they will definitely make sure you all are very well prepared for what’s going to happen.

I’ve worked within alot of different systems and I absolutely loved EPIC. Alot of different aspects to it and alot of extras. I used it for Compounding Non-Sterile and Sterile Admixtures. We were also able to look up information and see if there were changes made while Patients were hospitalized because the Hospital used the same system as we did.

Just went through the change over 2 months ago somewhat confusing and can get lost easily. Thank God we had 24 on site Epic trainers for a full month. We were able to work through glitches and problems

like

Yes it’s a really nice program

Staff in charge hiring are so lazy do not recruit new cases so all staff can have a job. Nurses are their back bone but yet nurses can go months with no place to work do they think or care about our bills has to be paid. No? They spend more time in meetings and having lunch . These programs have wrong leadership for things can continue to grow.

In my personal opinion cerner is a lot easier , smaller learning curve then epic.

When I got my job 4 years ago I didn't have any epic knowledge. Now I pretty know everything there is about it because I spent alot of time teaching myself. Alot of the clinical staff and managers at my job don't want to put the effort in learn two different systems so it causes them alot of headaches, but EPIC is very easy to use you just have to take the time to learn it.

It’s a lot of training at first and a huge adjustment process they should have super users that walk around when they go live for a few weeks but once you get the hang of it, it’s the best thing ever. Also when in doubt check media lol

Epic are they from Texas? Some years ago was working with programs in South Ga . Was attacked to several health programs made a big mess with payroll lots of staff did not get paid correctly. Some checks was sent to staff homes wrong address. Staff had calls coming from Wage and hour trying to help correct the problem. Took some months to get payroll correct. Epic left Ga went to Florida mess with same company. Once was cleared went back to Texas do not recall which city in Texas.
