I'm so frustrated with the automotive industry, I'm very much under paid and the work just sucks I used to love working on cars and trucks now I don't ever want to touch another one ever. My body is breaking down and I need to make a career change, I would love to do something in tech. As a full-time single dad of athletes I don't have the funds or the time to go back to school. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of certifications that you can get online to try to transfer to tech. Some of them are even free.

I would caution you to be wary of tech roles. This industry is experiencing a crazy transformation right now and thousands are getting laid off. Entry level positions are much harder to get. Kids graduating from college with computer science degrees and internships are struggling to get jobs.

Since you have experience actually working on cars, have you considered leveraging that into teaching or manufacturing? Ford's CEO recently complained that they have thousands of well paying jobs in their factory that they can't fill.

You could also try shifting into retail/sales and sell parts or tools to shops.

I don't work in the auto or manufacturing industry. I'm just going off of headlines in the news. If you do a quick search on google the relevant news articles should pop right up.

I can't give you any advice because I know almost nothing about you, but I would encourage you to do your research before making your next move.

Is Operations paid the least at your respective firms? I was hired to a Client Service Delivery role with a heavy focus on project management.
