Always do interviews. Keeps your skills sharp if you want to leave your company or get promoted! If you get hired for risk than you might find you like it more than consulting. If it doesn’t work out than at least you tried and you know risk isn’t for you.
No. If you want to do consulting, interview for consulting. Or do consulting adjacent roles that you could use to plot a path / craft a narrative to get to consulting. Don’t do risk.
"Financial services, transformation, and such" is a huge range of possibilities. At this stage in your career you're still finding what's available and what interests you. If it's a good company/team/manager, you should take it.
Go for it if it pays you well. You can find another job if you are not satisfied in that field. Good luck!
What were your reasons for applying to the role? I think that matters a lot. If it's a higher salary then go for it. If not, you should spend the time and energy going after what you actually want.
The higher salary was certainly the reason. Tbh I applied more out of curiosity because I really didn’t think I was that qualified so now I’m just wondering if I should go down this road even though I’m not that excited about it
