I’m going on maternity leave soon and my manager literally cautioned me that it may start to feel that I’m being “left out”, but she reassured me that she was simply giving me space to focus on my time with the baby. Not sure if you’re the birthing parent or not but that could also have something to do with off-boarding you earlier.
Go ahead and start mentally preparing to be in a mommy-and-me headspace. Look at it as a blessing. You prob handle a lot of work and your manager is prepping for a smooth transition. Nothing wrong with that, business-wise. Just asked to be kept in the loop before you go, if it's important to you.
Projects and work will always be there. But newborn/baby phases pass so quickly. Enjoy time with your baby while you can 🙂
I started doing this myself when I was prepping for parental leave. I wanted to make sure I onboarded and handed off projects in case baby came early and to give people time to ask me questions while I was still available. It was amazing and perfect. By the time I was on leave they felt that they had a handle of things and they never bothered me!
