I’m technically off this week, but my brain won’t quit. I keep checking job boards, worrying about January layoffs, updating my LinkedIn… and wondering if I should be doing more or doing less. I want to start the new year strong, but I also don’t want to burn out before I even get there. How do you balance rest and prep during the holidays?

Does promotion happen while you're on bench in IT companies?
Hi All, I've completed two years in my current company and I was recently released from my project and my manager is trying to assign me to a new project hopefully.
My question is, will my promotion happen as I was eligible for the same and I was released to the bench as I'll be moving on to another project soon. Can someone enlighten me on this?

We just bought a Stearns & Foster hybrid mattress. It still emits a smell and I’m reading all these articles about the harmful effects of off gassing with a memory foam mattress. Anyone else kind of bored clerking? I liked law school and thought I liked research and writing, but so far this district court clerkship has been pretty boring—lots of state law issues that are poorly briefed. Though to be fair, most of my time has been spent on one big case that I’m 99% sure is going to settle but not until the eve of trial bc that’s plaintiff’s counsel’s m.o.; so my work resolving the insane number of SJ and Daubert motions seems like a waste of my time.

Getting paid 85k base with 40k in bonus plus about 35k~ in OT.

Money isn’t everything but in my late 20s it feels like the only thing important right now.

WLB is next to zero as 60hr weeks are the minimum as of late. Management feels like they are trying to push a few of us out. Was told not to expect much come year end for comp. Any suggestions on finding a new role/pay expectations?

I have an offer in PE VP role in Citco and JPM and I am at cross road on which is one to company to choose. Their pay is very similar but JPM is offering an attractive signing on bonus. I need a honest advise on which is better between these two firms.
