I’m thinking about leaving Big4 - I’m an upper level manager in tax, I am a licensed attorney and CPA. I’m not sure where to start looking but would love an in-house counsel or CFO type role (ideally remote or hybrid if local). Does anyone have any leads or ideas for companies that might be interested in my skill set? I have applied to a few jobs on LinkedIn recently but would love some advice from other people within the industry!

Not sure how many managers come out of big 4 as CFO’s, that will be tough to find. I’d say possibly looking for director/controller roles sounds more reasonable. If you were looking at CFO options, you’d most likely have to look for some start ups/growing companies. Either of those options above though would net you decent salary and obviously more likely a better WLB

My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. Do I take the high salary and stay in claims or go for UW in hopes it will be best in long run?

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

What’s going on FB friends,

I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Any thoughts?
