Networking is the easiest way to land any role, not just an in house role. Many in house legal departments run lean, so they defer to referral candidates or bringing in their outside counsel to the group since it’s seen as a more “sure” hire.
If you’re getting interviews, your resume and approach is fine, it’s just taking time to find the right fit. People underestimate the process to “just go in house.” A year or more of targeted applying is not uncommon.

This. I think it’s more about your goals and finding an environment that has wlb. In-house isn’t this unicorn. Plenty of firms have more flexibility than even my remote in-house gig. I also found this job through perseverance. No network. Just keep applying and interviewing.
