In many corporate groups, senior associates have been wiped out and people call this a return to pre-COVID headcount. Is this really normal or are groups just slow?

How do you manage competing interests during a singing or closing? Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I’ll of course prep for the interviews but am afraid to burn potential bridges if I ultimately decline because I’m still figuring things out.

Why are lawyers less friendly as colleagues than non-lawyers? I’ve worked both in-house and in firms and noticed lawyers tend to ignore each other. Compared to the multiple corporate events and initiatives that was quite a choc when I realized people in BL just come to the office, sit down, work and leave without even trying to have a conversation.

Over heard today about bad behavior in biglaw : if you had to explain to someone’s parents or loved ones how you treated them and you’d be unable to do so without feeling awkward or embarrassed, you are the problem.
