3rd year. NYC Gov Law. $230k plus bonus (we’ll see if there are any this year 🙃)
I worked in city gov for almost a decade.
ADA: 55-65k (1-4yrs out of school)
Legislative body: 85k (5 years out of school, non attorney role)
Mayor’s office: 117k (6 yrs out of school, non attorney role)
Consider non attorney roles in government that still keep you in legal/Policy
This is great and interesting
5th year, remote in house counsel for software company, personally located in Denver area. 150k base + 15% annual bonus and significant equity. Super flexible hours (generally work from about 8:30 - 4 with freedom to go to appointments, etc during the day and “unlimited PTO) plus work from home makes it a pretty good gig.
Sign me up! Especially if you can take a Thursday off and avoid I-70 skiing on the weekend.
2nd year; boutique corporate law, $160k plus bonus for over 1500 hours.

85k, 8th year, local government, rural upstate NY. I’m whipping that federal student loan forgiveness horse, vesting my pension, and keeping that cost of living low af 😉😎

Graduated spring 2019,1st yr solo, small-to-mid-sized city in OK. Criminal defense and family law. I've made about 135k so far in 2020. Projecting about 175k by 2021.

Heh, Attorney 26, almost certainly. There’s only one attorney, probably with your firm, that I outright detest. I keep good working relationships with opposing counsel, but this guy... he’s a nasty individual and he screwed up today. I’m coming for him.
I live In the south & for small firms/boutiques in my geographical area, you’re looking at 35-50K for first and second year associates plus a bonus system in most. Upside is lower cost of living but it still feels weird making that as an attorney.
230/4th year out of school (but 33)/Alabama
What kind of company IC1?
7th year, In-house, TX, 175k plus 10-15% bonus projected for this year, pension (I can’t ever leave and that’s ok).
What industry ?
I’m cravath scale. Husband is an 8th yr plaintiffs attorney with a base of $175 and bonuses ranging from $25-125k plus referral fees which are separate and range between 15-35% of the fees. Will be lowering his salary and taking a percentage of all cases he works on shortly.
Oh god, very low. I don’t remember the number but he was super underpaid for a while
Vermont, as big law as it gets in the state, $88k 5th year. Bonus is deferred comp based on hours over minimum.
There’s finance, but it’s Vermont so you’ll likely be general corporate with some specialization areas (you end up doing a little bit of everything).
215k plus equity, in-house California tech company, 6 years out
I haven't been there very long, and the grant was part of the offer. However, like lots of tech jobs, it's a grant of options (i.e., options to purchase rather than outright stock) in a private company (standard 4 year vest), so it's hard to peg them to an actual value. But, other shares in a previous company that IPOd are currently treating me pretty well, so I'm inclined to view options favorably. I would expect a refresh grant annually or with future promotions.
115k/9 years practicing and litigation experience/Pittsburgh/midsize firm
12th year at small (10 attorneys) boutique patent prosecution firm in CA. ~$300k for 1200 billed and collected hours.

Thats where I started in insurance defense, but you can jump to larger firms with a year or two of experience quite easily
110k, New England not Boston, midsize firm. first year. Mediation.

2nd year, Atlanta, $170K, which is top of the market here except for a few Non-Atlanta firms that pay Cravath. Bonus target is 2050 and the bonus is way, way lower than Cravath scale. Other offices pay Cravath with Cravath bonuses even though ATL is the HQ and the other offices have a lower bonus target. Firm has massive profits and partners do not take a cost of living pay cut like the associates do. Word of advice, be careful what you wish for in non-NYC markets. Based on experience, you may make less money and bill way more.

$160k for 1800 hours (and random end of year bonuses) at commercial real estate boutique in north suburban Chicagoland. I graduated in 2009 but started practicing full time in 2013.
Cassiday is an insurance defense firm primarily. And they pay less than you’re making for way more hours. I know a lot of people there. 1800 hours is VERY VERY low; maybe RE is different but insurance defense you’ll be lucky to make that base salary for 2200 or more hours/year
