Does Natwest bank pay as competitive as Morgan Stanley Deutsche Bank. I mean Associate in MS and DB ranges from 20 to 30 lakh. However when I tried applying to Natwest expecting 40% hike (30 lpa) on current pay of 21 lakh. They straightway rejected me and said its not in their budget. Is there any financial firm which can pay as competitive to Mumbai banks. Barclays Deutsche Bank Natwest group BlackRock
Hello people, how common is a Amazon to PWC move ?
I’m interviewing for a Senior Associate role and TC seems to be more competitive than role in L5.
TC $114k- Base AMZ- $73k +$38kstocks ( vesting 17k$ due next year)
TC $135k Base PWC -$81$ + Bonuses ( 50k$)
Looking for managerial skills which the PWC role avails, and L6 promo doesn’t seem to be happening soon in current role. I’m also mentally stretched. I hear WLB in PWC is just as busy but can anyone confirm if this move makes any sense. Google Amazon

Know your resume front to back, especially any prior experience or skill sets that intersect with the job description. Know the basics of the products the desk is trading (assuming it’ll be some combination of equity, debt, derivatives like CDS) - how the products work, where they execute, what kind of risk does a product expose you to or hedge against. Above all, show a willingness to learn. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t check every single box, but show that you can close any gaps quickly and really make an impact.
If you have an interview, they already have determined you have some qualities/experience that align for a potential fit. Focus on the interview itself and good luck.
Probably pitch an investment
Wait a year to pitch an investment. Get in the door first. You can run simulations in the meantime to prepare.
Bump the second comment ^. You’ve already passed the smell test, just highlight the skills that got you in the door and be likeable now
The interview was good. Thanks everyone for the advice! I have my second this week with the manager. In this specific role it seems like they’re looking for someone good with relationship building/mgmt so that’s why they think I’m a fit. This was a role created due to COVID and seems like they want to fill ASAP
It looks like the role really doesn’t require much background in modeling - which I don’t have experience in anyways. It was more of just a natural conversation about what they were looking for and how I can step in
Know what’s going on in the market, make sure your true desire to work in distressed comes through. Don’t be afraid to be assertive, yet take into account when you could be wrong and willing to accept another viewpoint.
Trading desks, particularly distressed, will have very strong personalities
Read Topgrading by Bradford Smart. Best interview prep book ever. Most interviewers are not this tough, but if you get a Topgrade interview and you are not prepared, you will not fare well.
You’ll prob have to be familiar with 3 financial statement modeling and what scenarios you’d use to maximize a return on distresed opportunities
Please share with us your interview experience!
One question you may get that you can prepare for is “What is your greatest weakness?” Easy to shoot yourself in the foot on this one (i.e. “I’m difficult to manage”),
so think of something non-pejorative that everyone will agree with. My fav is “I tend to be impatient with unnecessary bureaucracy “ Even unnecessary bureaucrats will sympathize with that one ..... 😜
Bump @OP how did interview go?
Congrats & good luck!
