Interviewed with McKinsey and the first question they asked me was a hypothetical about a train and if I would pull a lever to change the tracks to save 6 people who are about to get hit but then one individual on the other track will get hit. I think I nailed my response but was just wondering if this is the type of work I should expect ac McK?

I hope you answered that you’d find a way all 7 die if it was for McK

give the surviving 6 ptsd and sell them medicine for it, passive income

Or make a pyramid growth model out of it. As a result of surviving these 6 must now replicate their experience and so in so that exponentially it grows over and over.

This is the answer they were looking for.

In all seriousness I think this is an inappropriate question.

Is this what you mean by "killed it"

I love how people always make this a Kantian/Utilitarian argument. For me I don’t pull the lever- it’s not the Kantian, but rather I’m lazy and couldn’t be bothered to engage in the deaths either way.

Philosophy major way back when. Then realized so many proofs rely on a sketchy axiom and got out before I went into some rabbit hole of thinking for the rest of my life.

What would be the correct answer for this purpose?

In real life I wouldn't do anything, keep my hands clean and don't care either way tbh. Not sure if I would say that during the interview lol

likefunny

Curious how you nailed it

like

The right answer is clearly the priority/value add/ROI of deliverables…which train had the highest impact? That’s who gets saved 🤣

Depends whether you're going into ther corruption practice or not.

I mean, if your recommendation is to overdose people, you can't be a sane person

They dissolved that practice into the whole firm like 8 years ago. Something about an operating model that focuses on instilling their values across all client outcomes

Jeez! Was it just a random question during the PEI?

I mean, the right answer depends on what you're trying to solve for...

It isn’t real

For everyone getting but hurt this is obviously satire lol

Agreed. McKinsey would have asked about opioids

I'm paying arround 22k emi for the same but unable to exempt tax as the loan is on my father's name.

Tax is also getting deducted, I'm paying hefty emis.
What can I do?
Please advise 🙂
