You can afford it, just depends on how much you value living arrangements vs other things (travel, savings, eating out, etc). You *could*pay for it, but *should* you?

Read through the above comments, and you’re absolutely good to go. Rent for a year, enjoy your time and then move on. Was in low 200s when I moved back to Dallas and I was spending ~3000 for an apartment.
But it’s tough to downgrade
That should be ur mortgage.
It’s a place where people go to take selfies, walk around, listen to music on their Airpods and occasionally work out
I paid $2600 on $90k salary. So you’ll be okay
I had about $2000 left every month after tax and rent. I still managed to save about $500 on MOST months after paying $300 towards my student loan.
You can afford it on that income. I won't do it though because that's classic lifestyle creep. You should max out your 401k, after taxes your take home should be $6,500.
Also, what level at Accenture... Associate Manager?

Sounds like Strat!
You should try buying a house
Only if they plan on staying put for the next 5ish years. Also if they bought and decided to rent it out later they’d have to be willing to play the landlord role which doesn’t suit everyone.
You can afford it, but to give you a reference, I live in SF and pay $1500 per month to split a 2 bedroom apartment on $160K base salary.
Don’t get me wrong, I know some folks paying $3K for a living room in a 2 bedroom that they split into a 3 bedroom, but most folks realize that it’s not sustainable and you don’t need a super lux building.
Most of the folks that have been here a while won’t do that and will live a little farther out (North Beach, Richmond, etc).
Thats a huge leap! Tech?
It helps when cap wildly underpays 🤣 I’m ex-cap too. Congrats!
The general rule is monthly rent should not exceed 1/40 gross income
You’re fine.
wow, that’s high, especially gross income

I used to pay $2100 rent on $110K salary very close to NYC. Had a great time having a big space to myself. Hindsight view - I would have been better off saving money in early years to buy a house.
I make 130k and have a roommate, pay 1200 because I like to travel and enjoy life and do w.e I want. Me personally would not do that. I mean who are you trying to impress ? Don’t make more money to spend more, stop the rat race
Once she’s at your place its all on you at that point as long as you got a clean space.

I don’t get it. I pay 1500 in a prime location at an upscale apartment in Dallas. Not sure why you would burn another 700 to live in something just slightly nicer.
I pay that on a 105k salary 😬
Avoid lifestyle creep & future you will thank you. I have been living in the same apartment ($1525 for a 2 bedroom in Seattle with my fiancé) since I was making $75K and I now make $150K. I can save so much more money towards other financial goals.
That being said, you’re making a large financial leap. Could you potentially find a place you love in the $1800 range? That alone would save you $5K a year.
I switched from Big4 consulting to cyber security at a public tech company ☺️ Went from making $60 to $150K in 3 years.
I make $140k and pay $1200 for my place in the city. Gives me a lot of money to invest and have fun with especially now that restrictions have lifted. I’d say spend less than you can afford on housing to set yourself up better. Just my two cents though.

What's the treat? Are you home that much? Save it for a house or but a tesla
Lol how can you argue “what’s the treat?” and then suggest “save it for a Tesla”?
Obviously you can literally make the payments, just depends what your goals are. I personally wouldn’t spend that much but doesn’t mean you shouldn’t (it’s not a ridiculous number)
I wouldn't do it. Why? If you have a goal of buying a condo/house or other real estate, you've achieved the first step: cash flow. You will still need a large lump sum in savings to afford a down payment so you can have a mortgage that is supported by your cash flow. If you stay at $1700/mo on rent for one year, you can take the difference in earnings as savings and use it next year to mortgage property. Think long term over short term.
Damn .. u making banks... Good for you...
Where the heck are you looking in Dallas? We had a great 2/2 apartment with private courtyard for the dog in central Dallas for only $1800….
