Is $75K not enough for a staff tax accountant?

I have difficulties finding one. No CPA required, 100% remote, decent health insurance; and no one is biting. Two main requirements: understanding of income/franchise tax and good Excel (ideally - Power BI and or Alteryx). Does our recruiter suck or do we have unrealistic expectations?

Wont get anyone with experience with that salary. MAYBE some experience but not much

like

I mean it makes sense someone with 8-10 YOE might not have hands on exp with powerBI and Alteryx

If you’re only targeting big 4 then that’s way too low. If you are open to smaller local firms or relevant experience you could probably find what you need at 75

like

No, b4 is not a requirement.

You’re looking for 1-2 years experience and even those may be able to get 90+ jumping

like

1-2 YOE with power BI/Alteryx experience is >$100k/yr salary in this market. More in VHCOL cities.

like

This doesn't match what I'm seeing poster anywhere

It's a candidate's market.

like

When I started, the client offered me the same salary with only having 6 month experience. It was tempting as it was $20k increase. Looking back it wouldn’t had been worth it as in another 6 months that gap closed to be $13k. While $75k is a lot for that position, it’s not enough to make someone jump.

like

I would also see how your recruiter is advertising the position to. I don’t open/reply to messages if there’s not a salary range provided.

likeupliftinghelpful

I left big 4 for $75K. But now I have 6 YOE and I don’t know power BI or Alteryx… I’ve always used vanilla excel. Honestly it could be a title problem. If you call it “staff” accountant you aren’t going to get as many takers as I imagine a pure staff accountant with maybe 1 YOE being $60-65K HCOL.

like

Wow I really need to look around more 👀

I would take that in a heartbeat as it’s a raise from my senior position salary now, just saying. Depends where someone is coming from and where they are looking to go I guess.

like

The powerb /i alyeryx knowledge creates more value than that 75k. I'm sure somebody would be interested but you're talking about top 5% of accountants. 90% of accountants still use hlookup and don't understand pivot tables.

What city?

like

Atlanta.
Can work literally from anywhere. Out team is all over the US. I would prefer someone in Atlanta in case they want in-person couching.

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

I've a question on what sections to put on a regular resume. I see some people are using consulting style resume for outside companies as well.
