Don't listen to your uncle. Relatives are people who don't want to see you grow more then themselves. They will try to divert you to roles such that you always are below them. Aise uncle's ko kans mama kehte hain.
Yes it's somewhat true that you will get targets to sale.

Its a Good Job
What is the job profile/description of a SBI po officer? Is it only sales related?
I thought it would be something much more

Choices are for those who have multiple options.
If this is your only option then don't listen to your uncle opinion.
Job is important for middle class like us.
I have worked in public sector bank for 6 years and then resigned to join back IT. PSBs are in way bad situation to work. RBI Assistant or Grade B is very good in comparison to other PSBs. In fact LIC or any other regulator like SEBI, SIDBI, NABARD etc are also better.
If you want to work in public sector, aim for any regulatory body and go there.
I will highly discourage to join any of the PSBs.
concentrate on your exam for now, whether you want to take the job or not, you can decide later also
I worked in both Sbi and IT. DM me..can guide you
Give the exam without any pressure. Joining or not is a choice for later.
You can always try for other exams after joining.
Just don't settle in private job. As a SBI PO, you get so many benefits which will save a hell lot of money from your salary plus the social status.
Hi, what lateral hiring happens? It does happen for private banks from MBAs but correct me if I'm wrong, there still isn't any external hiring rather happens within the existing team for SBI/RBI and all nationalised banks?
