I'm working in this field at the moment. Keen to see other people's thoughts also! I come from a tech background originally so it's a big adjustment
I work in this field. It’s a mixed bag. The modelling is fairly straightforward, but if you’re at a smaller consultancy it’s hard to get past the “big players” in the market.
It also depends whether you want to be building models yourself or using a tool. The tools are common at large companies to build models, but then you’re not actually doing any coding.
I’d say you can specialise in this kind of modelling, but you should look to be able to solve different problems too.
Big players are your larger media agencies (e.g. MediaCom) and econometrics orgs (e.g. ekimetrics).
If the company uses tools, that’s fine - I was more making you aware that if you like the coding side of it, you might end up a little disappointed. If you don’t care, it’s a non-issue.
I’m happy to DM.
