If the value of the points and other benefits generated demonstrably exceeds the cost of the fees, then sure. It may if you’re traveling most of the time but seems unlikely if you’re not.
Yes, exactly what PwC1 said. If it works for your situation, sure go for it
But the CSR is only $150 after deducting $300 travel; the AMEX is really $50 after the $200 uber, $200 airline, and $100 Saks; and the Bonvoy is just $95 but waived first year (thinking of canceling after next). But, for this year, I just need to spend enough on dining and travel to counteract the $200 in fees? That‘s like beyond easy without all the work travel I do 3/4 of the year?
CSR is effectively 4.5% on flights, whereas AMEX is 5 (to my knowledge). So if you’re spending more than $110K each year on flights, that extra 0.5% will cover the AMEX annual fee. I suppose if you really value the Centurion lounge or other perks then that changes things
Yeah, I thought Amex was better redemption for flights as D1 is saying. And can you please explain where the 110k calculation came from SA1?
Do the bonvoy card for hotel for sure if you’re already Marriott.
You should also consider the Hilton Aspire card. It automatically includes Hilton diamond which is Hilton’s highest level of elite status. So it’s nice to not have the pressure to stay the required nights per year and still have all the same benefits
Whats the difference between AMEX 2% travel vs Bonvoy 6%? The former one can be transferred to Bonvoy at 1:3 ratio. So essentially it’s the same amount?
6 bonvoy pts are like .048 where as 1 Amex is .02 at best...Amex is 1:1 to bonvoy last time I checked
I think that CSR together with Amex are overkill. If you are really only using CSR For dinning then take a look at the Uber Barclays. 4% cash back on restaurants and no annual fee. You get a higher return for a lesser cost. Then I’d choose between Amex and CSR, depending on what you prefer. If you are a Delta flyer, I’d go with Amex. Otherwise I’d go with CSR.
