Many companies are on a hiring freeze, as well as many layoffs have and are occurring. Does anyone know if this is temporary? Will there be an uptick in the coming next quarter?

I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Now I’m having anxiety searching for a job. I don’t think I want to sell anymore yet every single recruiter I interview with says I should, that I have a “salesperson mentality”. I’m burnt out. Has anyone else felt this way? How did handle it? Is there a different career path I can take or am I destined to sell insurance forever?

Sign-on Bonuses, is it typical for a company to ask for a re-payment agreement? i.e. 100% if leave/fired within 12 months, 50% if leave/fired within 24 months?

Hey team! So I was laid off from my SDR position about a week ago. My LinkedIn feed was absolutely filled with layoffs today. What happened? A month or two ago it was a candidate’s market and the offers were great but now everything has shifted. I was informed that I am not getting a promotion that I was gunning for, and when I pushed back about being fairly compensated for my work the response about it not being a good time to ask was really ominous. I was laid off, and I am now trying to pick up freelance while also on unemployment. Last week I made roughly double my UE benefits from a freelance job.

Ah the great Ad Agency Bubble, your agency is doing great, growing exponentially then boom, clients are lost, there are layoffs and there are no raises/promotions for a year. What do you do jump ship?

Considering an offer to go from firm (4 YOE) to become a privacy/product counsel for a tech company (non-faang). One concern for me is the potential of a recession in late 22 into 23 with the fed rate hikes. My fear is if that happens, me being on the chopping block as new in house counsel. If I stayed at the firm, I feel reasonably secure as an associate of not being laid off due to the market. How do in house counsel positions typically fare during lay off cycles? Any experiences to share?
