Neither. It’s litigation consulting. Depending on the specific topics you’re providing expertise on, it might also sometimes be called economic consulting.
That said, I’ve found that once you’ve done expert witness work clients are likely to ask for your expertise outside of litigation from time to time. In which case, I’ve seen plenty of people get asked to work on management consulting, risk consulting, public sector consulting, M&A, restructuring, private equity, or financial advisory (valuations, due diligence, accounting advisory, compliance/internal audit) type projects as well. I wouldn’t think strategy consulting work would be common though
Neither - likely going to be called something like investigations/disputes/litigation consulting depending on the firm.
I call it Strategy. Disputes & Investigations here
It would be Forensic & Integrity Services at EY
