l am currently a rising junior in

would really like to break into

I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.
Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.
JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?
My company, Pegasystems, is agressively hiring for Senior Solutions Consultant (presales) positions nationwide. If you are interested in working for an amazing company with market leading products and a great culture, please message me. Happy to discuss further. Assuming you are reasonably qualified, I can provide a referral as well.

Honestly titles are just ego at the end of the day. The only real point of promotions for me is the earning potential so easier choice for me is higher pay rather than higher title. Are the benefits better for you though?
Untrue. If you get a better title, then the job after this job may be a better job too because they will see that you already held the position of IT manager. It’s the long game.
If this job will give you the experience of the IT manager which allows you to move to another company later and earn much more then yes. If it’s a title but no experience upgrade then no it’s not a good move. Think about the next step and ask :” would this move enable me (in one year) to get another IT manager job somewhere else with a a substantial salary upgrade ?
I managed teams of a dozen plus while in customer service because it was the only way to make any money in that space. I moved to IT and make a lot more NOT managing anyone. I'm not sure you could pay me enough now to go back and manage people... and for less money? That'd be a hard no. But to your point... if it's going to allow you to make more in the future go for it. I just realized my happiness not having to manage other people was the better fit.
It sounds like more responsibility with less pay. But if the overall package is better or it sets you up for future success, maybe?
As long as it’s room to grow financially with the position
Negotiate
It depends on many factors. Where you are in life, can you afford a pay cut? Does the new company offer a better position with more opportunities. Will things benefit your career and life?
Weigh up the pros and cons.
I made a career change in which I took a drastic pay cut. But the benefits for me in doing so out weighed the financial side. A few years of struggling to get by, I'm now financially better off and have a better work/life balance. I can't say what's the better option, only you know what is best forvyou
job title is representing ego. It depends on how many time you can successfully asked your boss for rising your salary.
Titles don’t matter. I got a senior PM title but I got 35% paycut. I didn’t have any choice as I didn’t have any other job offer. However this role looks quite decent on the resume, so I believe that I will have a much better paying job after this one.
I think it may be a bad move, the higher your title the less chances for vertical improvement and the longer it could take to get promoted, if on top of that you're getting a lower salary it means it will grow less.
Yes it is bad. Don’t do it. Someone tells you otherwise don’t listen.
It‘s not about tags. It’s about what’s your value and how you are valued by your company plus how you contribute to the company
This is very true!! I totally agree!
I'd have to see a lot of extras about the job: great working environment, new skills, written promises of more money, stock options.
I love what I do, I really do... but I am always quick to point out that I'm not in this business for my health. If I'm taking a significantly smaller paycheck, there are going to be extenuating circumstances that would explain why.
I did exactly this. A $30k cut but a higher title. Because in the future employers will just see the title which has a much higher range over $50-100k more, so it should in theory make levelling salary when moving on again in a year or two much more likely. Time will tell!
If you’re into books, look into the book “Decisive” by Chip and Dan Heath, in just the first chapter it gives a great overview/framework for decisions like this. Good luck!
Are you going to be working more for less money? What place will you like more, don't move if you like the people at your old job. Will the move make you happier.
I started as a Desktop support, and now I'm a CIO and couldn't feel worse about it. I hate doing this job and not still talking to the people and fixing their computers. Even as CIO, it's a glorified manager with more responsibilities, and it sucks. Pay is better, but I'd rather be Desktop again and have less stress.
Hope this helps you figure out what's best for you.
Depends can you pay bills with the title? Cash is king
You only take lower pay to escape to bad job or to switch career track into something where you aren't highly skilled yet. You don't lose money to get a different title. That will take you years likely to recoup the loss in pay. Not worth it in my opinion. Find a different / better paying job. They are out there. Current market should start improving in a few months.
The title is irrelevant, but there are certainly times when accepting a lower paying job is the right move. A few years back I took a 10k paycut so that I could work a job that worked better with my going back to school to get a degree. I think in the long run this will be worth it.
lower paying job with higher title doesnt make sense .. the only time I would consider lower pay would be when i change career from one stream to another (for career growth)
Titles don't put groceries on the table. It may take you several years for your compensation to rise to the level of your current job.
Yes, it is a bad move unless they are offering you alternative compensation that will pay adequately for that position. The title usually comes with additional responsibilities and that is the reason it is expected to pay more. To have more pressure for less money is a bad deal.
