I would be leary of being approached about a job on WhatsApp. I think that it's unlikely that a legitimate employer would approached someone for a job through a messaging app. Google legitimate companies that offer work from home. Keep in mind that if the job seems too good to be true it's probably a scam. Also, you might also google types of scams so you know what to look for if a job is not legit. This prevented me, once, from getting into a bad situation.
Depending on where you are in the world, WhatsApp could be common, or not. In Latam, I wouldn't be surprised. Everywhere else aside from a few exceptions, I would be wary. Indeed, this could be a social engineering phishing attempt to gather data. PII can be bundled and sold to the highest bidder on the dark web, For example, if they contacted you via LinkedIn, there is not much use in moving to WhatsApp. If you truly are strapped for work and need a job asap, research the business, and their hiring team, look them up to see if WhatsApp is used by that company, contact their hiring person about the role on LinkedIn, etc.
You can also validate the links for typos, or if these are bitly and other URL-shortening links, then stay away.
You can also research scams on Google about this or that job offer, people often report Scams on Reddit and other places.
The same goes if you search for a phone number, it's quite easy to figure out if it's a scam or not.

Seems fishy. Any chance these are recruiting / staffing agencies and not the companies themselves?
Once I put a open to work banner on my LinkedIn, I got hit with numerous “recruiters“ via text message and WhatsApp. When I quizzed one of them, they say they got a spreadsheet with data on how to contact folks, so I’m assuming there is some sort of data query being done on LinkedIn for anyone who has that banner on.
All of them Wanted replies via WhatsApp.
