I literally cried the day we got back from our vacation this past summer, I alway get this intense depression of getting back to reality.

Not just you. I don’t have anyone covering me so my work piles up until I return to work.
Yep, same here. It makes me feel like nobody can take charge or responsibility for stuff when I'm out. Not to mention how many phone calls I get during my time off that make it feel like I'm still on the clock.
I don't have any of that anxiety around using PTO. Everything hums along just fine. But I doubt it's just you, either. From the sound of it, you're working in a very chaotic environment. If it's affecting you like this, I'm betting your coworkers feel the exact same way whenever they take time off.
Sorry you are working in such a stressful environment. It does sound like you would benefit from a small career change.
