It depends how well you are doing in your current role and where you think you can move in a development role.
If you are superb in dev role PMO might not be the right choice.
But don't think that PMO job don't have growth..
People who are good at PMO role can easily reach top management level .
I am doing technical PMO and in last 3 years in same firm I got 45% CAGR .
In last 6 years my CTC is 4x with just 1 switch.

Discuss this clearly with your senior and maybe initially just ask for the additional work as per your interest ( If you will ask to cut down your current role people might not like to do that )
PMO is operations role, general working hrs but growth wise very less no onsite opportunity

All are trying to move pmo to technical role, I'm in pmo domain for last 10 years now try to move any technical role or scrum master role but no one is not ready to hire with in the organisation. My advice is stay in tech role
