If you are in the USA you are more than likely an "Employee at Will," That means you can be fired at any time for almost any reason. There are a few reasons that are illegal, such as firing you because you are disabled. But, they can certainly fire you for asking for a raise and justify it as "we don't feel you are right for this position any more."
You COULD go talk to an employment Attorney and see what they say, but I suspect they will tell you more or less what I said above.

In short, yes.
Yes, at will state I’m assuming

You also have the "Right" to call your boss a dickhead, but that doesn't mean you can't be fired for doing it.
The company policy likely states you CAN ask for a raise, but I doubt it contains language that says, "you cannot be fired for asking for a raise." And, even if it did, they would just say you were fired for performance, attitude, or behavior reasons.
This is America - your contract is at will, they can boot you out whenever they feel like it, while you’re told that the contract is for your own good because you can leave whenever you want.
