May I know what is the notice period if one resigns in infy during the first 6 months of joining? I am a lateral resource and they hired me in June, but they have no projects related to my tech and want me to take weird roles.. seems they are hiring to increase employee count and cross training most. just looking for options..

It took me just over 2 years, but that includes an unexpected pregnancy and mat leave. A recruiter that found me via LinkedIn was how I got my current role. Getting on your industry’s recruiting companies’ radar I think is key in the Australian market.
I also read an article today that for older applicants, taking off the date of their education and removing the first ~10 years of their careers from their resumes can reduce the ageism when cold applying.
Great advice, I had done 8-% of this already - but struggler to drop my grass roots experience and background. But may have to to avoid ageism....
Good Luck!

Yep definitely tougher than before. I used to take roughly 2 months for finding a new job.
But these days I'm looking at far north of 6 months. I've been applying for about 9 months now.
To be fair if I'm measuring time to first offer them it's still 3 months. But even then... it was not a good offer... so I'm not sure that counts.
I'm still on the lucky side of all of this so I'll count my blessings.

Update! Finally locked something in after 9 months of dealing with interviews and bs recruiters. Finally in the other side *collapses in relief*
Now to go enjoy my notice period.
I’m still struggling to break into the market ;-;
Sorry to hear that too. Keep at it!
Definitely seeing the same - 25+yrs on my end, global leadership and delivery experience, extremely high performer in previous org, not even getting responses to applications here in Oz. Interest from OS, but it's definitely being a struggle for me here.
Yeah - I don't get it. I hear crickets from all the proactive follow-ups I make. And I'm sick of hearing the AI excuses too. When I'm back in my job and helping to recruit I aint't going to treat people like I'm being treated - guaranteed.
