I would agree they could. But the first job is going to be entry and probably pay $15 hr

like

It’s possible. But he would need to work his way up from an entry level position. I worked at a Walmart DC where salaried managers all the way up to the GM didn’t have degrees. He better be prepared to work long hours and odd shifts though if he doesn’t have a degree. The more skilled positions usually require a degree. A position in supply chain operations could eventually lead to an operations management role, though.

like

Amazon, and many other large companies, also have a “2yr in lieu of degree” requirement. If they are comfortable starting in a smaller company, they may be able to promote quicker on merit. But in general it does take time. You have to learn about WMS, TMS, inventory management, quality (different metrics depending on e-commerce vs manufacturing vs retail etc), and a number of other things. Not saying it’s overly hard, I was able to pick it up in a couple months post-military, but it’s not necessarily easy either

It’s absolutely possible, I started as a night dispatcher and have moved up over the years. Logistics can be a tough industry to work in but upward movement can happen in most companies without a relevant degree.

like

Good to know, will look into dispatching also!

like

Really depends on the company. A lot of companies have policies about how high you can go without a degree. You can do it, but it’s harder to get in and harder to move up. It will be easier with an ally inside so he’ll need to be on good terms with management. It also helps if someone inside helps you get in.

like

Absolutely! There are plenty of customer service related roles available. Many warehouses are gearing up for 4th quarter temp hiring with possibility to be brought on full-time as well. Forklift operators/order fulfillment roles are popping up everywhere.

Thank you for the point in the right direction!

like

I’d say the easiest way to progress *relatively* quickly would be getting into a support role tied to supply chain in a supply chain company, build relationships, and transition into a supervisory/entry management role. That would allow him to start with decent income and learn indirectly, then jump in at a slightly higher level.

I am worried that I am being benchmarked on a wrong job title.

Sales Manager vs International Manager or should it be something else?

My employer is based in China, while I am in France. I remotely manage a global sales team, with team members from around the globe. They all work remotely as well.

Being remote, and managing an international remote team, I would like to know what should be my job title? Any idea or professionals that I may contact, please?

Thank you.

Hi all!
Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?

Any recommendations on sales vs PT vs psychology vs really anything? Thank you!!

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out.
