No, I’m in NYC now and same

I mean there were city states in early civilizations
I personally couldn't give up my car. When I'm upset nothing soothes me as much as getting in my car, playing cinematic music and going for a long drive at night. It's cheap therapy for me.
I do love the conversations with my suburb friends who think I only eat out at overpriced restaurants and live in a war zone. There can be a huge disconnect sometimes. Is it pretentious to not understand each other? No. But if you're thinking you are better off, maybe. They can do them and I can do me, no one is better off if it's what works for them.
My car is 12 yrs old with 58,000 miles. I drive mainly to get groceries. I take the L everywhere.
Wanting to stay in the city bc the culture but wanting to leave the city so I can finally have a garden :/
no, i grew up in a collar suburbs and most of the people who didn’t go to a big university or to the city after high school seem like they’re stuck in the year we graduated and i have a hard time relating to them still. Makes weddings hard lol
I’ve lived in the city for 12 years and somehow I relate to everyone the same. idc where people live. maybe it’s because I grew up in a chicago suburb.
this is an odd take to me still. I don’t talk about gas prices or cars to my suburban or city friends. And suburbanites are cultured too. Idk maybe you just need to talk to more people or have better conversations 😂
My car is 3 years old with 3000 miles. Such a disgrace 🥹 but I like having a car just so I can take weekend trips to Michigan if i choose to
I lived in the city for 9 years. I didn’t own a car while I lived there and I liked that. I’m in a ranch in the burbs and decluttering so I can get back to the city, but prob Houston. I don’t feel safe in the city anymore. I used to walk my dog at 11 PM alone and I wouldn’t do that now
In my 20’s, I didn’t want to be friends with people in the suburbs because we had completely different psyche. However, now in my 30’s I don’t mind it. All my friends kind of moved out to the suburbs, and we congratulate last batch of friends who still haven’t gotten cars. Since becoming a car owner, I actually pay attention to who is driving what as cars kind of tell you the persona of their owners.
