I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? I got a call from DXC for senior Java developer position in Bucharest (Romania). They have mentioned a pay scale of 17k to 18k RON per month after tax cutting
If i got selected I am planning to move with my family.
Will there be any savings and what would be cost of living for a 3 member family there.

Fam, need an advice. Asking for a close friend. He has 2 offers 1. Jpmc: ctc 21 lakhs(excludes bonuses) 2. Morgan stanley through third party: ctc 27 lakhs (includes everything) Which is better in terms of career growth, job security? Work is sort of similar in both. #Morgan Stanley #JPMorgan Chase

Guys , whoever is interviewing and planning to join , do ask project availablity on priority basis before you take decision. On Java front looks like there is some project issue due to recent slowdown in market. My offer was not revised even after agreement with recruiter because of this.

You can start now but set expectations your first available start date is xx. If they like you, they will make it work. It’s not that far out in the grand scheme of things.

Start in about a month
Absolutely start now and just bake the retention bonus into comp expectations if someone is ready to pull the trigger immediately.
Hiring takes a long time.

It took me two months from start of search (first week in Dec) to start date (last week), including two weeks in between jobs. And I actually found my current employer relatively quickly. So I would suggest starting your search now.
You don’t want to start two months from now and end up in *desperate* mode to gtfo.

I'd start the search now and slowly ramp up the pace as the weeks go by. Even if you were to start the process today you are unlikely to get your first offer 4-5 weeks from now.
If you want to make an excuse, tell them you have a vacation planned and would like to give your notice only after returning from vacation.

Start applying immediately. Why would you wait and possibly be out of work entirely
Several reasons... first, OP already knows the potential end date, and given that hiring can be a lengthy process, there is no reason to delay and put themselves into a more difficult position
Second, OP has already grown accustomed to a certain income/lifestyle and so intentionally deciding to take unemployment at a reduced level of income for no apparent reason is worse off from a financial state and a career perspective.
Third, being told a company will be having layoffs is already an emotional challenge. Not making a plan to get back on your feet is about the worst thing you can do, as it will only decrease your motivation to interview and leave you with career gaps that can be avoided. It's just sheer laziness.
Best thing OP can do is find a new job that will start a week or two after this one ends, get the bonus, and take a few weeks off to unwind.

Start now, just let them now about your start date

Start now, just let your recruiters know your new start date.
No reason why you can't interview for a projected start date. Just ask them what their timeline to hire is at the beginning, if they want you sooner say you're open to it if they're prepared to offer you a sign on bonus to match the retention bonus you'd be walking away from
