Is it true that recruiters look at the first 50–100 viable resumes and let the rest of them be? I'd love to be one of the people who apply within the first few hours of a post, but it seems like the most impossible thing. Every time I see a post, it already has over 1000 applicants. How do you beat this issue?

I usually stop once they have a solid "shortlist" to manage time, but you can beat the crowd by setting instant email or push alerts for specific keywords. Check job boards during "peak" posting times (typically Tuesday through Thursday mornings) rather than weekends. Also, I'd suggest applying directly on the company’s own website.

If they have tools that filter and stack rank candidates based on a set criteria this helps cut through the noise, otherwise who knows how they create the candidate shortlist? You can thank AI job application agents for beating you to the punch. They flood the application process and many users cast such a wide net and have minimal qualified for many of the roles the agent applies to.

Recruiters will usually give me their top 10, 20 and based on my feedback, they go back to the pool to find more fishes based on my feedback.

This can happen, but it is not as simple as first 50 and done. Recruiters look for relevance first, not just timing. Applying early helps, but tailoring your resume to the role, using referrals, and applying when the job is newly posted gives you a much bigger edge than racing to be first.

Hi all, I’m in the north east metro area and due to the current RE market we decided to look into PA specifically Lancaster. Anyone in this market and have any thoughts on where it’s headed? We’re looking purchasing a single family property all cash at 110k that rents for $1100 a month. The last owner bought for 35k like 15 years ago 😩 but hoping buying and holding for a few years will give a equal or greater returns over the long run.

I have a few questions for people in consulting roles (both external/internal).

My partner is in corporate banking, but he wants to switch to a consulting/strategy-based role. I noticed people with those jobs typically have an MBA, and also majority of the job ads in similar roles has MBA as either a requirement or preferred qualification. So:

1) does MBA actually improve someone's chance in getting those roles?
2) are there any good Canadian MBA programs you'd recommend?

Thank you all!

When you recruiters say at the end of a 15 min call.
“I will get back to you by the end of this week” does that really mean “your not right for this position”? Because this whole thing is a waste of time. I’ve did these calls with 3 recruiters and is yet to hear back from someone. Today would be the 4th recruiter that I’ve spoken to. Does this practice annoy you guys just as much as it does us? My dream career is to be a technical recruiter but this whole thing is discouraging.
