Is job role or company more important?
I want to leave audit and external reporting behind and head into commercial roles.

I really want a career in FP&A at a tech/FMCG firm however...I didn't get that. Instead I got a commercial analyst role at a large private logistics company.

I was thinking it could be used a potential stepping stone to acquire suitable skill sets in FP&A?

you've got enough company prestige on your resume having worked at a Big 4. Go for the opportunity you really want. The company is important, but comes second to the role.

If FP&A is what you want, keep digging.

Role. You will always be assessed for relevant experience outside of audit.

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

Hi all- My SO is currently at a Big4 & was initially preparing for S&O roles at GCP but given the high number of ex MBB consultants hired, they believe its just more competition to get the offer & to eventually get promoted over time.

Instead, they have decided to pursue program manager or cloud consultant roles, which they feel might have a lower barrier to entry from an assessment standpoint. Not sure if the bowl agrees but would like to get your thoughts, thanks!

Currently 25 y/o making 70k/year in Boston. I grew up pretty poor and I have minimal financial education. A lot of my salary now goes towards helping my parents get out of debt. My parents are no longer able to live on their own, so considering selling my grandmas house where they live (maybe 550k), paying off their mortgage (100k) and buying a duplex (between them they make about 55k/year). Is buying a two family home a good investment ? How much can I afford to spend on a new house?
