Benefits are much better at the smaller firm, higher bonuses, better healthcare, more flexible PTO, and they are offering to compensate for my PwC performance bonus
From 76k to 100k
I don't understand why this is a question. Go to the firm that values you most, which is expressed financially. PwC is a mess right now- it's a great time to leave. You can boomerang down the road should things go sour at the boutique, and you'll likely rise a level in the process. It's unreasonable to turn down a 40% pay raise. Don't think too hard about what this will look like down the line. A full year for a first job doesn't look flaky.
PwC1 is spot on. Also consider how it looks resume/career-wise. What is he boutique firm? Well known? Growth opportunities? Etc.
1-year or less on a resume can look spotty unless you sell it right. Also, why would the boutique spend that much on someone only 1-year out of college. No offense meant, but consider why, they just need bodies vs do they really want you to help grow the business. Big 4 consulting is not ideal but once you start it's not the worst call to stay a little bit and get some real experience. Consider your salary potential going to a boutique in a couple years from now, arguably more once you start to understand your strengths and interests
Lol @D1 and @E2
From 76k to 100k is a 2 year story in Big4.
What does 40% bump look like? Might be worth it to stay
Don't forget to consider any additional benefits like bonus/wealth building that might make that difference
@EY1 is dumb. Don't be skeptical of the pay, lots of places will pay you that and more... May not be the best growth potential, but it is easy enough to make another jump of the name is solid...
Besides the salary, is it a good role? Do your homework. Get the know the people you'd be working with at the boutique a little better if needed and make a move if you believe it's a better place for you.
100k is hard to turn down and you may get laid off at any second regardless
Don't listen to ey1. I was 100k 1 year out of college. Seems like you understand the pros and cons, take the offer at the boutique as you'll learn about the consulting cycle in full much quicker at a smaller firm than PwC. The doors are calling a bunch of PwC folks, watch out for the mass exodus post sept
