Is Manager really the best time to exit as a Strategy consultant? How soon after making Manager is ideal to leave?

Probably. If you stay to SM it is hard to exit at the same comp outside of FANG type companies. I’d say early in the manager cycle is best. You’ve proven you can make the jump, you aren’t too expensive, and you can slot into roles that eventually lead to a P&L without taking a drop in pay.

Right time is when you feel strongly about it and/or can’t take consulting anymore. There are opportunities at every level. Life is too short to wait for milestones while suffering.

As soon as you find another role. It takes a lot longer than you might think.

If anyone has been considering Titan (titanvest.com) and would like a referral, DM me! We both get a .25% discount off the monthly fees. They just launched their offshore (international) fund but also have large cap and small cap funds. I am up ~43% on my initial investment in the large cap (Flagship). They also offer a Roth IRA :) Happy investing!

Is this an accurate distinction? High performer: Exceeds expectations for role and level. Operating above level. Mid/average performer: meets expectations. Gets the job done but nothing above and beyond. Low performer: does not meet expectations for role and level.

Genuine question: What are the most common exit options at Google BizOps? (1) For internal transfer to PM, those teams seem to prefer to hire Google engineers. (2) For internal transfer to Chief of Staff, why those teams don’t promote their own Strategy & Op folks? (3) For BizOps internal promotion, there are not many Director positions. (4) For leaving Google, I don’t know where people usually go… Please share your thoughts / correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks!

Seeking advice on how to choose between a mid tier technical accounting advisory offer and Big 4 audit. Worked in audit at a local firm and wanted a bigger platform. Would love to switch to advisory to be more well rounded. Mid tier advisory offers higher salary but also thinking big 4 has a better platform and maybe better exit opportunities in the long run? Insights please.

Fellow Fishes - How did you all deal with failure in your career. I was ambitious and smart. I was in IBM and considered to be one of the best of my class. I was fired and haven’t really found my way. I don’t know what to do anymore. 3 years after the fact, I am still at an entry level position. I hate myself for letting things get this bad but I don’t know how to get out of this perpetual cycle. I tried working my ass off but have not been able to shake off that unfortunate past.

I often see posts about people getting 350K exit or 450K or more in FAANG. Are those strategy folks from Big 4 or are there cyber folks too getting these exits ? I am making close to 200k as M3 in cyber . Not able to anything that would pay more than this in non-consulting ? What roles should I target ?

I'm on a contract position and it's due to end. I asked my boss if they want me to stay and their answer was yes but we have to confirm with HR for budget. I've followed up twice but haven't gotten a solid commitment yet. It ends In late August and I'm wondering what else I can do. I don't want to be shit out of luck but don't want to seem disloyal by applying to other jobs.

Hiring account roles from AE to Director. HCP and DTC offerings (including tv). DM me for more info.

In these times, if your referral bonus is $1k or less for seasonal employees you are asking for: 1. Employees who put in work to refer people that end up negotiating a part time option don't work on referring anyone else. 2. If the potential new hire gets an offer, employees have 0 incentive to convince them to accept it. This can even lead to them giving negotiation tips which get the new hire a $5-10k higher offer. They may even recommend accepting a diff firm's offer straight up.

Has anyone had the conversation on how we get Ss and Ts ready for returning in the fall? I’m not talking about mask usage, hand washing times, physical distancing in classrooms, etc. I don’t think we can expect Ts and Ss to come back and just hop right into academics. Need sometime to process together, get some SEL, be face to face social again, etc. Just wondering if districts out there have gotten a head start on this task.
